Where to Find Penn at New York City Climate Week

New York City Climate Week is an annual event that brings together international leaders from business, government, and civil society to accelerate climate action and build a sustainable future. It takes place alongside the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), offering an opportunity for high-level discussions and numerous events across topics such as energy, finance, policy, and sustainability. Penn Climate, the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media (PCSSM), and Perry World House will be hosting a number of events.
 
On Monday, September 22:
 
Title: A Reality Check: Moving From Crisis To Hope
Location: Fortescue Green Pioneer
Time: 2:30-4:00pm
Description: Penn is proud to partner with Exeter University to host a high-level panel discussion entitled “A Reality Check: Moving From Crisis to Hope.” This discussion will take place on board the Fortescue Green Pioneer, the world’s first dual-fuel ammonia-powered vessel, during its global tour to accelerate the shipping sector’s transition to green fuels. Hosting the event aboard the vessel offers a rare, hands-on setting to explore climate risk, science, and solutions at the intersection of heavy industry and policy. The event will feature high-level convergence in climate science, systems modelling, media, and culture. Due to limited capacity, this event is by invitation only.
 
Title: Climate, AI Data Center Energy Use, and Nuclear Power
Location: Penn Club New York
Time: 6:30-7:30pm
Description: The Penn Center for Science, Sustainability and the Media (PCSSM) in partnership with Penn Club New York will be hosting a talk with PCSSM Senior Research Fellow Dr. Joseph Romm during NYC Climate Week on Monday, September 22 at 6:30pm at Penn Club New York. Dr. Romm will be giving a talk titled “Climate solutions, AI data center energy use, and nuclear power: What’s real, what’s hype, and what’s disinformation”. More information on the event here. Title: The Changing Geopolitics of Climate

Description: Global climate policy was shaped decades ago, but today’s world looks very different. Uneven energy transitions, strategic competition, and cascading risks demand a recalibration in approach. For its inaugural event, the Penn International Climate Observatory (PICO) will host a roundtable to analyze these critical trends and invite discussion on how shifting geopolitics, finance and the real economy, and societal pressures are reshaping the future of climate action.
