ASEF-PSOM

Association of Senior and Emeritus Faculty at the Perelman School of Medicine

The Association of Senior and Emeritus Faculty at the Perelman School of Medicine functions to enhance the careers of the emeritus faculty by encouraging them to remain a part of the community of scholars in the School of Medicine. It also serves to support senior faculty by raising awareness of the full range of retirement options available to them. Further, ASEF offers an array of service options, advocacy, and social and intellectual programming to its members.

ASEF evolved in 2003 from the recommendation of the Faculty 2000 Project recognizing the need for clarity in mechanisms for retirement options as well as those for retiring faculty who desired to remain involved at PSOM. It is supported by the Office of the Dean of the Perelman School of Medicine and reports to the Executive Director, Faculty Affairs & Professional Development. ASEF is the University’s sole school-based retirement organization and its members are also members of the University-wide Penn Association of Senior and Emeritus Faculty (PASEF). The two organizations actively collaborate through jointly planned and/or shared events and representation on the respective Councils.
