Ayad Akhtar: A Conversation on Religion, Class, and Race

Ayad Akhtar, a Pulitzer Prize winning playright, is coming to Penn to discuss his play Disgraced, a drama about 9/11, class, race, identity, and Islamophobia that is going to be performed by the Philadelphia Theater Company in October. The play, which "focuses on a dinner party between four people with very different backgrounds," features as its main dramatic element a heated discussion on politics and religion, which ties into its social
commentary on a post 9/11 America.
