Theatre Arts Program
Penn’s Theatre Arts major and minor encompasses the history, theory, literature and practice of theater. Students get course credit for participating in faculty-directed productions; participate in “the Edinburgh Project,” which results in a theater piece performed by Penn students at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Penn students act, direct, design, and write for a senior honors thesis production; attend regular workshops with artists and other theater professionals; and use the vibrant theater landscape of Philadelphia as an extended classroom in which live performance is the text under examination. Theatre Arts students can immerse themselves in the London theater scene through the Penn-in-London program, and benefit from the individualized attention they receive from faculty in this intimate program.
