Resources for Prospective Faculty

Penn and Philadelphia offer a wide range of opportunities for work and leisure, with New York and Boston to the north to Baltimore and Washington DC to the south.

Dual Career Couples

The recruitment of dual career couples and families to Penn is a University-wide priority.  The University and schools offers a number of resources to offer the transition to life in the Philadelphia area.

Finding Jobs for Two Partners

In certain cases, the Office of the Provost can provide funding for dual career couples hired across schools.

Penn positions- both faculty and staff- can be viewed at Careers at Penn. (Note that the Perelman School of Medicine maintains its own separate employment site.) For Wharton faculty positions, please check the websites of individual Wharton departments. In addition, Penn is a member of the New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania/Delaware Higher Education Recruitment Consortium.

Information on University Benefits

Penn provides generous benefits for new hires and their families. Information and contacts can be found on the Human Resources website

Resources for Children

A variety of work-life programs are available through the Division of Human Resources, including the Employee Assistance Program, which can research options for child care.

In addition to other kid-friendly information, Center City District, an area nonprofit, provides information on area schools.

Learning About the Philadelphia Region and Neighborhoods

The University has a relationship with Whalen’s Moving and Storage, which can provide relocation tours and information on Philadelphia neighborhoods. Services can be accessed through the local Human Resources representative for the school or unit.

A number of excellent publicly available sites can help to acclimate one to the Philadelphia region:
