Creative Writing Program
Students majoring or minoring in English can choose to have an emphasis in Creative Writing through the Creative Writing Program, which runs in close collaboration with the Kelly Writers House, and is housed in the Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing (CPCW). Students can also opt to minor in Creative Writing or Journalistic Writing. Creative Writing courses at Penn are taught by an accomplished and varied roster of faculty that includes poets, novelists, and screenwriters. Creative Writing students have the opportunity to apply for the Bassini Writing Apprenticeship, through which they work closely with a faculty mentor who is a member of the professional writing community. RealArts@ Penn internships offer further possibilities for students to gain professional experience in the realms of art and culture.
